Bouncing Back
Entering our busiest season of the year, we entrepreneurs and business owners do so after a season of being beaten up by not only overpriced eggs and gas, but by just about everything we buy. We then entered a fire season that wrecked the air we breathe and brought heartache to so many of our friends and customers, some who lost everything in the fires. And now we find ourselves in a season of wars in the Middle East, rampant crime and homelessness here at home, and protests that often pit well-meaning brothers against one another.
But as business owners we must put all that negativity behind us as we seek to enjoy this surge of summer business, allowing us to once again meet the ever-increasing needs of our clients and customers. We cannot allow all the negativity – which I believe is strategically placed on left-leaning news sources – to pull us down, or this could be our last season in business. We must remain positive throughout all that’s happening around us, weathering the toughest storms, as true entrepreneurs always seem to do.
How and why can we do this while others can’t seem to get past their pity parties, endless complaining, and drinking from the well of negativity and gloom? We can do this because we entrepreneurs and business owners are resilient…WE BOUNCE BACK! It’s in our nature. Aspiring entrepreneurs race back to a “regular job” as soon as the going gets tough…and it will. But not us…not me.
The American Heritage College Dictionary defines RESILIENCE as: “1. The ability to recover quickly from illness, change, or misfortune.” And “2. The property of a material that enables it to resume a former position or structure after being bent, stretched, or compressed.”
Business owners, have you been feeling a little under the weather because of all the recent changes? Run into a little misfortune, have you? Or perhaps you have been feeling bent or stretched, or have had your buying power compressed because of the tariff wars and business instability? Well, let the warmth of the busy summer season help you BOUNCE BACK into shape because that’s what resilient people do.
The next time negativity comes knocking at your door, don’t answer it.
